Position Overview
The President of the Lebanese Republic serves as the head of state, symbolizing national unity and safeguarding Lebanon’s constitution, sovereignty, and independence. This role requires exceptional leadership, moral integrity, and the ability to promote stability, justice, and development. The President works closely with parliament, the government, and other state institutions to foster national consensus and navigate the country through political, economic, and social challenges.

Represents the unity of Lebanon and its people, upholding the Constitution and ensuring Lebanon’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Leads the Lebanese Armed Forces and oversees national defense in coordination with the government.

Appoints the Prime Minister and approves key ministerial roles.

Engages in foreign relations by appointing ambassadors, signing international treaties, and representing Lebanon in diplomatic affairs.

Can propose laws, call Parliament for special sessions, issue decrees, and return laws for reconsideration.

Holds the power to grant amnesties.

Represents and promotes harmony among Lebanon’s diverse communities.

Prerequisites

Lebanese Nationality: A Lebanese citizen, born to Lebanese parents, and does not have any other nationality.

Age Requirement: Below 50 years old.

Language Requirements: Fluency in Arabic is required, with proficiency in English and/or French preferred.

Political Neutrality: Demonstrated ability to serve as a unifying figure above political and sectarian divisions.

Commitment to Lebanon First: The candidate must prioritize Lebanon and its citizens, dedicating their leadership to the nation’s unity, prosperity, and well-being. Moreover, he/she should prioritize the welfare of citizens over personal or political gains.

Experience:

10+ years of work experience in the private or public sector.

Experience in leading institutions or initiatives through complex challenges.

Demonstrated history of contributing to Lebanon’s development or civic well-being.
